My birthday was a kaleidoscope of decadent treats, fun hiking on steep terrains AND welcome phone calls/emails/cards.
Thank you all for helping me feel like the most desirable birthday girl I know.
Rosa and Bronson planned this Hollywood Hills hike to celebrate Rosa's birthday. I joined them, as well as Diane and Casey. We started on this hike to climb up the sandy side of a steep mountain while it was still light outside. We didn't think the hill looked impossible. In the end it wasn't impossible, but it was not what we bargained for. I had to break a branch off a tree and turn it into a stabilizing stick and a pulling instrument to pull Diane up the last 1/4 of the hill. Rosa had worn opened toed shoes which caused large rocks to embed under her arches when climbing. While the 5 of us struggled up the hill a frequent climber past us huffing and puffing, but nonetheless climbing much faster than us. I decided to call the hill the birthday Everest.
We got to the top with sand in our shoes, not much evening light and a fading flashlight. We ate tuna sandwiches and pita chips with hummus. The view from the top was lit by street lights and spot lights from Hollywood events. We heard sounds from parties and somewhere in the distance there were fireworks that we could hear, but not see. In order to get down the mountain we took the slightly graded, paved walk way. No more steep hills for us!
Bronson brought Sprinkles cupcakes for the birthday girls! DECADENT!
