I LOVE IT!
I received permission to start running from my chiropractor. He said I should take it slow and he'll track the effects on my back and neck. So two weeks ago I stared jogging a few blocks during my 3 mile walk. Thursday I wanted to jog a 1/2 mile straight and then a few other blocks during my 2 mile walk. Instead I ended up running over a mile and I had to stop myself from running more. It felt exhilarating to be comfortable with the pace and familiar cadence of running. Today Liz and I ran along the beach for I don't know how far, but it was almost 8 songs on my ipod.
If I can keep up a healthy back and self-discipline then I will probably become a runner again. My legs feel rubbery today, but they also feel stronger. Of course, I need new shoes, and a race to train for. The first race I am doing is the Seal Beach Fun Run on April 4th. It's a 5k. Liz is doing it as well.
This article provides the definition of why I call myself a runner (not a jogger).
