Some of the movies I can choose to watch, courtesy of my Relief Society President from church.

Antibiotics, AntiVirals, Ear Drops, Allergy medicine (I don't have allergies), pain killers.
I’ve been annoyingly ill this past week. I wanted to write about the details because so many people have called to check on me and/or come to visit me. You people deserve an honorable space in the blog history, but sitting up this long may prove to be too stressful for my tired body. So far, I have not taken a nap today. I mean, it’s Memorial Day, people should not be prone on the couch inside on a day like this. Nevertheless, I am inside with my countless medicines lined up on my desk so that I remember which ones to take at what time, and which ones can not be taken within 2 hours of another. I also have a Kleenex box and a plethora of movies accessible to me. The illness began as a sore throat/flu (we guess) that I probably contracted on my flight back from Hawaii. After my first diagnosis and medication orders I faithfully rested to let my body heal from the flu. Unfortunately, I also contracted nasty ear infections that sat festering in my “resting” body. By Saturday the ear infections had taken over my life and I was lying in bed crying before I finally decided that the first medicines were not doing their job. I stumbled into the urgent care and listened as the doctor nearly exclaimed when she looked in my ears. She gave me a shot in the butt and aggressive antibiotics to add to my medicine arsenal. Since then, I have sat at home and allowed people to bring me movies as I lay in the apartment. I tired to attend church, but left after the first hour. To my great benefit, a chiropractor at church adjusted my neck and the nauseous dizziness disappeared for almost 5 hours. I also enjoyed some entertainment from the Devereaux kids who did dances for me and played instruments to try and brighten my spirits. The most distressing part is that I had worked towards, and anticipated, the Fountain Valley Triathlon set for Monday morning. Since I was so sick I let my neighbors borrow my speedy bikes so they could race quickly in the Triathlon and I merely watched and meagerly cheered from the side of the pool. I wanted that Tri…
There are two lessons learned from this illness episode. First, I am going to get the flu shot every fall (I haven’t had the flu for 5 years, which I attribute to 4 successful flu shots). Second, I am going to wear earplugs more faithfully as I swim laps in the pool. Third (extra lesson), I am going to buy a thermometer to use at home so that I can detect a fever when it arrives unexpectedly.
Here’s to good health!
