Growing older

I have found that the longer I am away from my family, when I return the older everyone has become. My little niece that I used to babysit is now 16, driving her own car, working, school and dating..my nephew just turned 14 and he is now as tall as me and sounds just like my brother, my youngest nephew is already 18 months..

My grams has seemed to have aged quite fast, she is 89 and forgetting things. She has always prided herself on her memory, her body was giving out long before her mind started to fade. It pains me to see her struggle with her thoughts. It's hard to see those I love getting older, I know it is inevitable but it doesn't make it any easier. I know when she says her goodbyes to her grand kids and great grand kids she doesn't know if she will see them again. She is my grams and has seen many things in her day, she has pearls of wisdom and great stories to pass along.

"I believe the nicest and sweetest days are not those on which anything very splendid or wonderful or exciting happens, but just those that bring simple little pleasures, following one another softly, like pearls off a string." -L.M. Montgomery
