In the movies there are always scenes that depict a family gathering in a large house. Inevitably the single person ends up sleeping in the basement next to the noisy furnace and the bumping dryer. That doesn’t only happen in the movies. That is my real life right now. At Mindy’s house I slept on a springy mattress with the dryer bumping away in the kitchen. At Eric’s house I was given the big blow up mattress in the living room, next to the bathroom door. When we realized the other 11 people would most likely use the bathroom within the course of the night I got ear plugs and moved the mattress to the family room. In the morning my two little nieces came out to sit on my mattress with me and play Webkinz on the two wireless laptops I had put next to my bed. Having them on my bed is more precious than anything and makes up for the less than 5 star accommodations.
