Rain Rebel

It has rained at least once every day in the last three weeks. That is three days of rain! The SoCal culture must feel rebellious to allow that much rain interfere with their holiday plans. As for me, I wear my pink and white polkadot rainboots as my rebellion. Tonight I added a red raincoat as I ran around in the rain with walkie talkies to ding dong ditch houses. I wasn’t acting like a teenage rebel who runs around the neighborhood…instead I was dropping off Christmas gift cards for a family. In order to make sure they picked up the gift I had to hide behind a tree and radio my friend with the walkie talkie to signal the success of our covert operation. Now that I am at home in slippys I still have the walkie talkies turned on to talk to Liz in the apartment. But my rebellious streak continues because I should be completing my coursework for my online teaching class. I should turn it in by midnight. Instead I am writing for this blog and listening to music and playing with walkie talkies. Will my rebellion be more than a distraction and an actual consequence if I don’t turn in my work on time? Yes. But as a rebel I don’t care. Or more importantly, I’ll just get it done when I want…I won’t let the rain or a deadline dictate what I do or when I do it. The same principles apply to the pile of discarded clothes that has risen in my room since Saturday (the last day that I actually folded a piece of clothing after wearing it). The clothes will sit there until I deem a portion of worthy time to take care of them.
Am I always this rebellious? I think so. But the excederin I took seems to bring out a side of extra energy that sometimes gets me in trouble, or at least distracted from reality.
